Strength that begins with understanding your body.

For women 40+ navigating perimenopause, menopause, pain, injury, or a body that no longer responds the way it used to.

I help you understand how your body has adapted — and use strength, movement, breath, sensory input, and recovery to help it respond differently.

Start here

You are not starting from zero. Your body has been adapting all along.

The tension, fatigue, pain, interrupted sleep, or loss of strength you are experiencing did not appear in isolation.

Your body has been responding to hormonal change, stress, injury, sleep, nourishment, repetition, and the demands of your life. That does not mean your body is broken. It means we need to understand the pattern before deciding what to ask it to do next. My work begins there — not with a generic workout, and not with the assumption that one symptom has one cause.

What we are building

More capacity for the life you are already living.

We build strength because muscle, bone, balance, and power matter enormously as we age. But strength does not happen separately from the rest of you — how you sleep, recover, breathe, and respond to stress all influence what your body can access on a given day.

You may begin to notice

More confidence under load

Strength you can feel and demonstrate, built progressively and scaled to the body in front of me.

Better balance and coordination

Steadier movement, and less guarding during the familiar motions you make every day.

More trust in your body

A clearer understanding of what helps and what does not — and more trust in your ability to respond when your body changes.

Alejandra’s Process

We observe. We test. We introduce new information. Then we reassess.

I look at the whole pattern: your history, symptoms, goals, movement, strength, recovery, nervous-system state, and — when appropriate — relevant medical information you choose to share from your healthcare team. Then we use small, specific inputs and see how your body responds. What improves? What gives us better access to strength? Your response guides the next step.

Meet Alejandra

Alejandra Belmar

Chilean-born, Brooklyn-based — a Functional Medicine Health Coach, strength trainer, and human adaptation specialist for women 40+.

For more than twenty years, I have worked with women through perimenopause, menopause, postnatal recovery, injury, chronic pain, and the many changes that arrive in the second half of life. I do not separate strength from the nervous system, or symptoms from the life in which they developed. I pay attention to the whole — and teach you to do the same.

What I promise
I will look at the whole. I will not reduce you to one symptom, one joint, one lab value, or one stage of life. I will treat your experience as information — and be honest about my scope. — Alejandra Belmar
